Takamura Knives
Takamura Hamono is located in the village of Takefu (Echizen) in Fukui prefecture. This manufactory, run by three brothers, is famous for producing excellent kitchen knives with a perfect finish. The brothers inherited it from their father – Toshiyuki Takamura-san. In their production, they use the best, modern steels.
It is worth noting that Takamura was one of the first manufacturers who – to improve the properties of knives which were already characterized by high sharpness and cutting edge retention – reached for high-speed powdered steel (HSPS), as well as R2/SG2 steel.
The Takamura logo reflects the three pillars of a good kitchen knife’s quality, i.e., the proper selection of materials, a refined forging and hardening process, and excellent sharpening. Before the knife is handed over to the client, all three of these elements are implemented and verified to ensure the best possible product.
