Higonokami Folding Knives
The Japanese model of the pocket knife – Higonokami – has been in continuous production since 1896. It appeared at the end of the samurai era, perfectly reflecting their legacy. After being relieved of their duties as Japan’s noble warriors at the end of the 19th century, blacksmiths changed their business and began producing everyday items. This is how the legendary Higonokami pocket knife was created. The name of this pocket knife comes from its place of origin and is derived from the words “Higo No Kami,” which literally mean “Governor of Higo” (this is a hereditary honorary title in the Japanese Higo region). The Higonokami collection includes Japanese knives made of Monosteel and Aogami steel, which provide great comfort of use and are characterized by excellent cutting properties. Simple Higonokami knives with a solid construction do not have a spring – the pocket knife is easily unfolded with one hand using the protruding lever. The blade of the knife is made of carbon steel, which is incredibly sharp (to maintain its sharpness, it must be properly cared for, i.e., cleaned and dried after use). Higonokami folding knives quickly gained great popularity due to their lightness, uncomplicated design, and low price, while having a very wide range of applications. They are successfully used for all office work (for cutting paper, sharpening pencils, or as knives for opening envelopes and packages). Thanks to their simple design and small size, Higonokami pocket knives quickly became one of the “essentials” that are always worth having with you.
