The Japanese Masutani Nakiri 165 mm knife resembles a cleaver in appearance, but unlike it, it has a thin blade. It is perfectly made for kitchen tasks such as cutting and chopping vegetables.
Hand-made Masutani knives are the result of the work of a talented blacksmith in Echizen, located in the Fukui prefecture. Comparable to much more expensive knives, they have an excellent quality-to-price ratio. The strong core of high-carbon stainless steel VG-1 is surrounded by outer layers of hammered steel. It is thanks to it that the blades gain a unique appearance. The hardening process gives them a high hardness of 61 +/- 1 HRC, and they also stay very sharp for a long time. The handle is suitable for various kitchen tasks because it is resistant to moisture and temperature, thanks to the pakkawood. Japanese knives from the Masutani collection can be recommended to all home cooking enthusiasts, as well as those learning to use kitchen accessories from the Land of the Rising Sun.
