The Japanese Naniwa Super Stone S1-480 sharpening stone has a grit of 8000. This makes it perfect for finishing the cutting edge. The binder used in it is a synthetic resin, produced by the Naniwa company itself. It is an indispensable tool for all people who want to finish the blade at the highest possible level. Hard and very durable Naniwa stones are characterized by highly concentrated abrasive particles. This affects the speed and comfort of sharpening, also in the case of the hardest types of steel, such as ZDP-189 and R-2. Their property, the so-called “splash & go”, means that you only need to pour water on the stone to use it. What is important, after sharpening, the Naniwa Super Stone stones should be dried well, and then they should dry completely at room temperature. You can’t put them on a heater to speed up the drying process! Their storage place should be dry and dark.
