Higonokami Black 9.0 cm Monosteel SK-5 Folding Knife

The Higonokami pocket knife, prized in Japan, has a reputation as high as the Swiss Army knife in its home country and worldwide. The design of the Japanese Higonokami was created in 1896 and is based on a mechanism called ‘chikiri.’ It uses a small, forged lever to open the knife. It is useful for various daily activities, such as sharpening pencils, opening packages, or slicing fruit. The durable Higonokami pocket knife with a simple construction is a small and lightweight tool with universal application. The BLACK version is made from excellent high-carbon steel named SK-5. The hardening process gives it a hardness of around 60 HRC. The black Kurouchi finish gives the blade a unique look. Instead of a locking system, the blade of the Higonokami pocket knife is held securely in place by friction. The blade can be removed from the handle by pressing the ‘chikiri’ – the iconic lever, which should be held with the thumb during use to prevent the knife from closing. After each use of the Higonokami, it is recommended to rinse and dry it thoroughly.
