Higonokami Silver 7.5 cm Laminated SK-5 Folding Knife

The Japanese Higonokami pocket knife, which was designed in 1896, enjoys great recognition in the Land of the Rising Sun, just like the Swiss Army knife in its country of origin and around the world. It has a special type of mechanism, a small, forged lever – ‘chikiri,’ with which the knife can be opened. It is perfectly suited for sharpening pencils, opening various types of packaging, as well as slicing fruit and many other activities. The small and lightweight Higonokami pocket knife is distinguished by its simple and durable construction, and thanks to its features, it has a universal application. SILVER is a version in which the core of the blades is made of carbon steel called SK-5. Around it are claddings made of soft iron. The hardening process gives the blades a hardness of about 59 HRC. The passage of time and use cause a patina to appear on the blade, which emphasizes its unique character. To slide it out of the handle, simply press the iconic ‘chikiri’ – the lever held with the thumb will allow the pocket knife to be used. It does not have a locking system and uses friction to keep the blade in a safe position. Thorough rinsing and drying of the Higonokami keeps it in excellent condition.
