The Japanese pocket knife Higonokami, designed in 1896, is highly regarded in the Land of the Rising Sun, much like the Swiss Army knife in its country of origin and worldwide. It features a special mechanism, a small forged lever called "chikiri," which allows the knife to be opened. It is perfect for sharpening pencils, opening various types of packaging, as well as cutting fruits and many other tasks.
The small and lightweight pocket knife Higonokami stands out with its simple and durable construction, making it versatile in use. SILVER is the version where the blade core is made of carbon steel called SK-5. Surrounding it are scales made from soft iron. The hardening process gives the blades a hardness of about 59 HRC. Over time and with use, a patina forms on the blade, highlighting its unique character. To slide it out of the handle, simply press the iconic "chikiri" – the lever held by the thumb enables the use of the pocket knife. It does not have a locking system; friction keeps the blade safely in place. Thorough rinsing and drying of Higonokami helps maintain it in excellent condition.
