Accessories for brewing Japanese matcha tea
The extraordinary green matcha tea is characterized by an original taste and wonderful health properties. What distinguishes it from other teas is the form in which it appears – a green powder. It is made by grinding only the soft, young leaves (without twigs or leaf veins), which are harvested from plantations with limited access to natural light. This shading process causes the plant to produce a higher amount of amino acids, which makes the infusion much more aromatic. The leaves are ground on traditional stone mills. Matcha tea contains a lot of microelements, which, thanks to the powdered form, are more easily absorbed than from loose-leaf teas (where the valuable ingredients are found in the leaves, which are removed from the pot after brewing). The uniqueness of matcha is also due to the way it is prepared and consumed. Special matcha accessories are useful for its preparation – such as: a tea bowl called a matchawan, a bamboo whisk, or chasen, and a bamboo spoon called a chashaku – which allow you to bring out the perfect taste of the tea and fully indulge in the pleasure of drinking it.
