SG2/R2 Steel Knives
Developed by Takefu Special Steel, Super Gold 2 (SG2) is a high-end powdered tool steel alloy designed for blade production. It is also one of the most popular high-quality powdered steels that can be heat-treated to a hardness of 64 HRC. Powder steel is characterized by a very high degree of purity.
Kobelco Steel’s R2 steel is considered to be exactly the same steel as SG2, which is why the names are used interchangeably. Powdered steel is ideal for knife production.
