The Suehiro Akamon 1000 is a fast, easy-to-use ceramic stone with a comprehensive application. With a grit of 1000, it is the most universal and versatile sharpening stone. We recommend it for regular sharpening of knives, chisels, or planes, and for creating a new cutting edge. Sharpening can be continued on an Ouka 3000 or Rika 5000 stone. Suehiro stones from the Professional series are currently some of the best sharpening stones on the market. They are medium-hard stones and require a short, 5-10 minute soak before sharpening. Thanks to the high concentration of abrasive material, they will perfectly handle sharpening knives even from hard powdered steels, such as ZDP-189, R2, or HAP-40. The stone is sold as a set with a Nagura – a small, harder stone for cleaning – and a professional stone holder that stabilizes the set during sharpening. Suehiro is a renowned Japanese manufacturer of sharpening stones from the Niigata province in Japan. Suehiro has been producing stones for over 50 years, maintaining the highest quality. Suehiro sharpening stones are made from the best materials and are exceptionally durable – the properties of a stone will not change even after 20 years from purchase.
