Morihei Hishiboshi Hi 6000 is a fine-grit stone intended for the final stage of sharpening and polishing kitchen knives. Used after lower-grit stones (#500, #1000), it allows you to achieve a beautiful Kasumi finish.
The Hishiboshi Hi series was developed to replicate as closely as possible the feel of working on Japanese natural stones (Japanese Natural Stones, JNAT). The content of natural ingredients in the abrasive structure translates into exceptional contact with the blade, a natural stone feel, and the ability to achieve a subtle kasumi finish. The stone creates a rich slurry during use, which increases the effectiveness of polishing.
Morihei Hi 6000 is a splash & go stone—it doesn’t require soaking, just apply water directly to the surface. For a better effect, you can lightly rub it with a nagura stone, which will increase the activity of the working surface. The resulting slurry should not be washed off during sharpening—it contains abrasive particles that are crucial for the finishing process.
Compared to Shapton and Naniwa stones, the Morihei Hishiboshi Hi 6000 offers larger dimensions (210 × 75 × 25 mm) and a longer lifespan, making it an optimal tool for daily use in a professional or advanced home kitchen environment.
